Transfer Station Permits are on sale now! You may purchase yours on Monday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Board of Health Office located in the Town Hall Annex.
This year, we have a new system. In an effort to help make the town operate as efficiently and “green” as possible, we have decided to change how you dispose of your household garbage. We are one of the last towns in our solid waste district to switch from using colored bags to trash tags. When using these trash tags you can use your own trash bags! If you still have blue Cheshire bags, you can still use those and you do not have to use the trash tags.
Each trash tag costs roughly 66 cents.
- 1 trash tag per 11 gallon kitchen bag
- 3 trash tags per 33 gallon trash bag (same size as the previous blue Cheshire bag)
- 4 trash tags on any bags larger than 33 gallons
When purchasing your annual Transfer Station permit, you get enough trash tags to equal the same amount as the roll of blue bags for the same annual price of $150.
We understand that change can often be difficult to deal with, but we are excited to help Cheshire cut down on the amount of waste it produces annually by modernizing how it is packaged before it is removed from our town. Thank you for cooperating with our new system!
