News from the Town Clerk
The 2024 Cheshire Annual Census has been mailed.
The census is mandated by Massachusetts General Law and is valuable in obtaining a current and correct count of residents. The population is important to the Town to apply for state and federal aid grants, also the count is valuable to the Hoosac Valley Regional School District and Northern Berkshire Vocation School District.
Residents are asked to review, correct if necessary, sign and return the form to the Town Clerk office in the provided envelope. Please make sure all who reside at the address and who are not listed on the form are added with all pertinent information, this would include dependent children.
This form can not be used to register to vote or change party enrollment. Any resident may register to vote at the Town Clerk office or visit the Secretary of State, Elections Division website and download a registration form.
The census returns may be mailed back or dropped in the "drop box" at the Church Street entrance to Town Hall at 80 Church Street.
Anyone who does not receive a census form in the mail or has questions concerning the form please call the Town Clerk office at 743-1690 x. 104 or email [email protected].
Failure to respond to the census may result in removal from the active voters list.
Included with the census is a Council on Aging survey. Please fill out and return with the census form.
