In an event of an emergency, The Town of Cheshire officials issue alerts through CodeRED, a high-speed notification solution. The CodeRED system allows messages to be quickly delivered to targeted areas of Cheshire or to the Cheshire as a whole.
On October 27, 2020, The Town of Cheshire will be conducting a performance test of the system at 4:30, contacting everyone in The Town of Cheshire who is currently in the emergency database. Receiving a test message will assure that residents will receive a message when an actual alert is issued by Cheshire officials. Residents who have not enrolled to receive emergency CodeRED notifications or did not receive a test message should immediately visit the Cheshire website and click the CodeRED tab to enroll. You may also click here.
“No one should automatically assume that Town emergency officials have your contact information,” Town Administrator Ed St. John said, urging all individuals and businesses to visit www.cheshire-ma.gov/codeRED and click on the CodeRED link. Those without Internet access may call the Town Administrator at (413) 333-8024 to supply their information over the phone. Required information includes first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code, and primary phone number, additional phone numbers can be entered as well.
CodeRED gives those who want to be included an easy and secure method for inputting information. The data collected will only be used for emergency notification purposes such as in the case of missing children, boil water advisories and shelter-in-place alerts. Other important Town notifications may be sent through this service as well.
Any questions should be directed to Town Administrator’s office at (413) 333-8024 or [email protected].
