Water systems are now required to document all water service line materials and identify any lead or lead containing materials.  The Water Department worked with Tighe and Bond to complete a recent inventory, if you received a letter it is notification that the public side portion of the water pipe (called the service line) that connects your buildings to the water main are of UNKNOWN materials.  Unknown means that the service line could contain lead.
